Project Dress A Girl 2026: Let’s Sew Joy Into the World!

September has arrived — and at MenzFabrics.ca, that means one thing… 

✨ Project Dress A Girl is officially underway!✨

Every year, the YouTube sewing community comes together for a month‑long celebration of creativity, compassion, and connection. It’s a time when sewists flex their sewing muscles, share ideas, cheer each other on, and stitch dresses that will travel across the world to girls who need them most.

And this year’s lineup is packed with inspiration.

🌟 Kickoff Weekend: Let the Fun Begin

September 1st: Mari hosts the LIVE Kickoff — the energy is always incredible. 

September 2^nd  Practical Stitches joins the vlogging tour with a brand‑new video.

Then, every Friday night, tune in for LIVE unboxings where your dresses are showcased for the whole community. It’s one of the best parts of the event — seeing your creations celebrated and knowing exactly where they’re headed.

🧵 Dress Specifications for 2026

The guidelines remain the same to ensure durability, comfort, and dignity:

- Pull‑over style 

- No buttons, zippers, or Velcro 

- Fabric ties only (no ribbons) 

- Must have pockets — preferably **two** 

- Knee‑length 

- Cotton or cotton blends (not sheer) 

- Avoid: white fabrics, text prints, Disney or licensed characters and religious or patriotic prints.

This year, Shari — Canadian Ambassador for Dress A Girl Around the World is collecting sizes 6 to 12 for girls in Uganda and Ukraine.

🚫 Please do not send infant dresses — there is no distribution channel for them.

📦 Where to Send Your Dresses

You can submit your dresses through:

 Any Atlantic Fabrics location (5 stores across Nova Scotia)

📅 Mail by October 3rd

This gives time to sort, pack, and prepare shipments so the dresses can get on their way quickly.
