Introducing The Louise Dress ~ Free Pattern
Introducing The Louise Dress Free Pattern for project dress a girl! The Louise Dress, just below the knee length, A-line dress with oversized pockets and a sash. The sash is long so a decent sized bow can be tied in the front or the back held up with carriers. The dress can be made in long sleeved version or a short sleeve version which can be easily interchanged with no adjustments. The dress is quite conservative but perfect for everyday wear such as going to school.
The dress was designed to address some issues and a need the sewing community was looking for in a dress pattern. All of the dresses in this size range will be going to the Ukraine so the dress also had to have an option for colder weather. Depending on fabric choices this dress can work for warm or cold climates.
The dress is an European size 10. It should fit a girl 8 to 10 years old. The measurements are in the written directions. The written directions has the map for the pattern layout and a step by step instructions with tips for sewing success. There is also a sew along / tutorial which will help beginners. This dress should appeal to all sewing skill levels. The tutorial is linked here or go to Practical Stitches on YouTube, "The Louise Dress Tutorial".

The pattern is in color you may choose to print it off in color once and then print off again in black & white to piece all the pattern together since a couple of pattern pieces are overlapped. This could also be traced! Printing it off in custom setting on your printer at 24% will bring you success.
Photo of pattern map is here
The pattern runs 3 X3 when piecing it together. If you are not making the long sleeve version you would only need to print pages 8 & 9 twice. Personally I would just trace the sleeve pattern and print pages eight & nine again. I look forward to seeing your version of the dress. Feel free to share your creations with me shari@menzfabrics.ca.
Happy Sewing Friends!
